5 Ways To Make 2020 Your Best Year Yet

The year 2020 is already off to a positive start, and just being alive for it is a special thing. Getting to live your life in a year where the first two digits match the second two digits only comes once in a century, so just being here is very exciting. Not everyone gets to be alive in this special year, and to experience it twice is extremely unlikely. Babies who are born in 2020 will have to live until they are 101 until they experience this in 2121, so it’s a pretty big deal and is just one reason why you should make it a year you’ll never forget.

Start Now

Whatever it is you want to achieve, don’t say ‘oh, I’ll wait until the new year,’ get ready or even start now so that by the time the new year comes, you’re already in the swing of things and have more chance of achieving your goal.

Be Self Aware

If you set yourself some new year’s resolutions, be aware that you may break them and end up disappointed. However, being self-aware and knowing when you have weak moments – as we all do, will make this easier. While it’s still easier to break the new habit, make sure you remember why you’re doing it, what your long term goal is, and remember that it’s not going to be easy as anything worth having ever is. Always win those mini battles against yourself.

Be Prepared

You never know what’s going to happen, and even if something terrible happens and you end up in hospital in 2020, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to be a bad year. With a little bit of preparation, you can be ready for whatever life throws at you. For example, being realistic about what might happen, having some savings put aside in case you lose your job, or your car breaks down will help. Thinking positive about any situation and looking on the bright side will also help you when things aren’t going your way.

Be More Aware of What You’re Eating

Forget ‘going on a diet’ or saying you ‘want to lose weight,’ focus on what you’re putting in your body, and if you do anything in 2020, make half of your dinner plate vegetables.

Vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that help your body in many ways. They’re also low in calories and high in fiber. Frozen veg can be just as nutritious as fresh, so keep some in the freezer ready for when you need a quick and easy option.

Sign Up For A Challenge

Perhaps it’s your first 5K, a 10K, a half marathon, a full marathon, a tough mudder, or a triathlon, whichever one will challenge you and motivate you to stick to a training plan better – sign up for it now. Start researching races that you might like to participate in and think about whether you’d prefer a large or small event, a local or destination event, and any other factors that might sway you to sign up. Achieve something, challenge yourself, and you could also raise money for a good cause in the process.
