I can remember back to four years ago; planning the nursery was such a special thing. I chose a subtle creamy terracotta shade for the walls and kept it all really neutral; so we could change it as the boy grew up.
We’ve reached a sort of crossroads now; where the boy is into cars, planes, and anything related to vehicles as well as characters from popular TV shows; and so we have decided to update his room.
He knows very much what he wants these days and so we will let him choose the colour of the walls – I’m not too keen on wallpapering as tastes can change so quickly.
I’ve seen some really cool ideas for creating murals in the shape of race tracks and things; I really want to have a go as I think it would look really special and personal.

Furniture wise he has a toddler bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers which are oak and we will keep at the moment – maybe next year we will swap him to a cabin bed and maximise the storage that way.

I really want to keep the curtains dark and plain, so whatever the shade of the walls will just be a darker shade curtain wise.
I really need to change the blind – we bought a simple roller blind but I really like the pleated and silhouette blinds and hopefully in a shade to compliment the walls and the darker curtains. I love the look of these Duette ones too:
I really want to make a feature out of the light – I’d love to find a lampshade or light fitting that is fun and fits with the vehicle theme.
I can’t wait to get started – have you done a themed bedroom? Do you have any tips? Please share in the comments! 🙂
