- A holiday is a great opportunity to see a new place in this beautiful world that we live in. There are plenty of places that should be on your bucket list, but what about travel destinations for a winter holiday. For those who don’t mind a bit of cold weather, here’s some inspiration for your next adventure.
Northern Lights, Finland
One of the best places to experience what this cold weather has to offer is in Finland, and if you’re after a view to remember, then the Northern Lights are certainly a sight to behold. It’s the most spectacular light show that attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists per year. The view can be seen in Finnish Lapland, and there is plenty of accommodation from igloos to luxury suites. You can see this glorious environmental phenomenon in the chilly cool air or cosy up in a warm suite. The choice is up to you, but it’s one that’s definitely enjoyed with a hot beverage in hand.
Skiing, French Alps
If you’ve ever gone skiing, you will know that it’s an activity that the whole family can get involved with. If you’ve never been, then you’re certainly missing out and should definitely make an effort to go at some point. You can find a number of resorts for skiing, and one includes www.skiblue.co.uk, which is situated in the French Alps. It’s definitely an active holiday and one that you’ll need to make sure you wrap up warm for. You may need to look at certain types of clothing that are worn for when you’re skiing, so a bit of holiday shopping may be in order.
Glacier Express, Switzerland
Once you’ve been on the Glacier Express, the trains back here in the UK are never going to be quite the same. Switzerland is a wonderful place that has plenty of cold spots that are worth visiting. Wherever you go, though, it’s important to give the Glacier Express a ride when you’re there. The scenery that this train ride offers is truly spectacular and one to get plenty of photo opportunities to make all your Instagram followers jealous.
Christmas Markets, Germany
There really is nothing more festive than attending a Christmas market. It’s that time of year where everyone is out, embracing the chilly weather in search of a Christmas market, where they can eat and drink to keep warm. If you fancy it, then there’s likely to be many in and around the UK, but if you want to see something more original, then Germany is where it all began. With the Eurostar, there’s now an easier way of getting to the country and being able to spend a long weekend in a beautiful part of the world. It’s one way of getting festive and starting off the month of December in the right way.
With a bucket list of destinations to choose from, choose this time of the year to take a winter trip. The world is your oyster!
