Fellow parents, you all know the same pain. Your children need to be entertained, so you buy them some toys. Then, within a few months, they grow out of them. So, you buy more, and the cycle continues until you realise that you could genuinely open up your own toy shop.
I’ve got no problem with buying toys for your kids as I think it gives them an outlet to be creative and have fun. Plus, it takes them away from modern things like TV and iPads. The trick is finding toys that’ll last for years, and here are some that I think are wonderful…
It’s a very traditional toy, but there’s a reason these have been around for so long. They’re a toy that your children will play with for years because there are so many things to do with them. If you look at the Melody Jane Dolls Houses website, you’ll see there are countless accessories and additional items you can buy for a dolls house. Instead of buying an entirely new toy, you can get an extra figure or something to put inside the house. They’re an excellent way for children to slip into the make-believe world and just conjure their own stories. As such, it’ll be years before their dolls house starts collecting dust in the attic.
Any Cuddly Toys
You really can’t go wrong with a cuddly little toy. I remember when I was younger I had a cuddly toy all the way through childhood. It’s something your children form a bond with – it almost becomes part of the family, like a pet but without the noise or toilet mishaps. A child can do so many things with a cuddly toy and take it on so many adventures. You can buy one when they’re little, and they’ll probably still be playing with it right up until they naturally get too old for all toys. Even then, they’ll always keep it around their room!
Do cards count as a toy? I’ll allow it because it’s something they play with and you’d find them in a toy shop! Cards are brilliant because they don’t really have an age limit. Think about something like Uno – it’s timeless. Your children will grow up playing it all the time, and it will still come out now and then when they’re well into adulthood. Plus, when they’re little, kids just love playing with cards anyway. They like trying to make card houses and stacking them on top of one another, so it’s a great toy to have around the house.
At the end of the day, you can’t resist buying toys for your kids. One of the best ways to spend time with your children is by sitting with them and playing with their toys. But, you have to avoid going overboard because too many toys can get a bit ridiculous. If you want ideas for toys that will last a long time and continuously get played with, then I hope this blog post helps!
