A year ago today I became a blogger!
And what a year it’s been.
This blog may just look like a bunch of (often badly written) articles on various different things, but it’s grown into a huge part of my life.
I’ve pushed my own social boundaries and attended events. I’ve met lots of lovely people, and have even made some blog buddies.
I’ve reached out and helped people who have felt how I’ve felt; and other people have reached out and helped me.
I found myself recently thinking about where I am and the direction my blog is heading in; and it made me read back over my first few posts.
I needed someone to talk to. I needed somewhere to vent and I wanted to be able to reach out and help people while helping myself.
I thought no one would ever read my blog. I thought no one would ever be interested or understand.
And here I am – pushing 5,000 followers on Twitter, 1,000 on Instagram and a handful on Facebook.
I’ve made friends with bloggers, who help me more than they will ever know – the support and encouragement is overwhelming.
I’ve made friends with non-bloggers – people who have heard of me or found me by chance.
There have been negatives – I’ve had nasty comments from other bloggers and I’ve had my fair share of trolls. In all honestly, the negativity has made me stronger and I couldn’t really give a shit.
I pushed myself to my limits and took myself off to London, alone, and came home with a huge sense of pride (and a new iPhone).
And most of all I’ve been able to indulge my love of writing – I’ve got a few things in the pipeline that I never imagined would be possible, and blogging has given me the confidence to do those things.
So, Happy Birthday Pass the Prosecco Please – totally not just a blog, you’ve changed my life. And a huge thank you to my beautiful followers and fellow bloggers who have laughed, cried and got pissed with me.
