With the boy’s fourth birthday rapidly approaching of course I find myself reminiscing about how far we’ve come – from those early colic/PND days to now we’ve done a lot of learning and growing as a family; and my little baby is fast growing into a clever little person.
I’m also at a sort-of career crossroads – I need to find 16-20 hours a week of regular, reliable work that fits alongside hubs’ hours and preschool. It’s a nightmare – why can’t mums be able to easily find a career that fits?
That’s where Childcare.co.uk has proven useful – it’s the UK’s largest online community of parents, childcare providers, household helpers, schools and private tutors.
What is Childcare.co.uk?
From the website:
Childcare.co.uk is a multi-award winning online networking platform that helps connect parents, childcare providers, schools and private tutors.
Parents, childcare providers and tutors can create a free profile advertising their requirements or services that we publish on our website and mobile apps.
Unlike a traditional childcare agency we do not charge commission fees or booking fees. Members deal direct, carry out their own checks and references on each other and negotiate their own rates. It’s possible to find childcare or childcare work without paying us a penny!
We are the UK’s largest online childcare and tutors platform and have helped over 1.5m people find childcare, tutors and childcare work.
Safe and secure
As well as shows search results by distance, it also gives full information for each childcare provider as well as reviews. It’s really safe and secure and a lot of thought has gone into every detail. After all, finding someone to look after the most important person/people in your life is a big job, right?
Easy to search
The website is super easy to use – you go to Childcare.co.uk, enter your postcode and what you are looking for and it loads you a list of childcare providers that suit your needs.
From the initial list you can click to view a profile which shows your everything from about me, experience, qualification, availability and fees.
Some profiles have a lot of detail about what is on offer and you can even see details such as whether the household has any smokers or pets – every little detail is thought of which makes the experience of finding childcare a lot easier.
It even has it’s own message service built in – so it’s really secure and every profile has to be approved by a human; which again is an extra tick in the safety box.
The Help & Advice section is incredible – it has so much information on what to look out for, scams, how to write a profile, and so much more.
There are two types of membership – Free and Gold, with the website saying “Childcare.co.uk gold membership is for parents and childcare providers who want to be more proactive in their search. Standard free members must wait for a response to their profile but gold members can use our safe and secure private messaging system to initiate contact with all other members“.
Would I recommend?
All in all it’s really easy to browse and find exactly what you are looking for – I’ll admit I was slightly dubious about searching for childcare on the internet but Childcare.co.uk has been developed to ease even the most worried mind, it’s very safe and it gives you tips on picking the right person for your, even down to meeting face-to-face for the first time.
Would I use it? Absolutely, without a doubt – it’s so helpful to have local childcare all in one place, and I love the profile details such as information about the setting, especially as it saves having to ask the same questions multiple times.
Please do go and check out Childcare.co.uk for all your childcare needs, it’s fabulous!
