Mini Jen Bag from Mia Tui: Review

Mini Jen Bag from Mia Tui: Review
**I was sent a Mini Jen bag from Mia Tui in exchange for this review.  As always all opinions are honest and my own**

Since I was a little girl I’ve been obsessed with bags.  My husband has joked for years that I have a handbag addiction – yet since having the boy nearly five years ago I’ve barely needed let alone used a handbag.

But I have discovered my perfect handbag – the ‘Mini Jen‘ bag from Mia Tui.  I promise I’ll try not to get overexcited and gush but it truly is a lovely bag – read on to find out why…

About Mia Tui

Mia Tui was created in 2010 by a mum of two in search of the perfect bag for day-to-day life; all the bags are practical, stylish and well thought out, such as the interior being a light colour so you aren’t rummaging around in a black hole of doom for your keys.

Mia Tui use no animal products at all and is therefore vegan friendly.

The Mini Jen

I had a hard time choosing a bag – I decided on the Mini Jen as it can be used for just about everything.  It’s a slightly smaller version of the Jennie bag – the website recommends anyone under 5ft 5in go for the Mini Jen as it’s a big bag, I’m 5ft 3in hence going for the Mini Jen.

Where to start?  Well, the Mini Jen is advertised as a travel bag as the back pocket slips over standard(18cm) suitcase handles – we visit family on the Isle of Wight quite often and this is ideal for me when I’m trying to juggle luggage, an overexcited four year old and a handbag.

Purple for the win

It’s made of ultra soft faux leather and has a light coloured waterproof interior – each bag comes in a variety of colours and I went for purple.

Each bag comes in a lovely dust bag, perfect for storing away when not in use.  Which will be never because I can see me using it always…

My usage

As a rule I usually switch between three bags for daily use:

  • a large tote bag for work with enough room for a notebook, pens, a drink, food, books, iPad and so on.
  • a rucksack for picnics, adventures and days out.
  • a small shoulder bag with enough space for my purse and phone.

It’s really annoying switching between all three – which is where the Mini Jen comes in.

My Mini Jen

General use

For it’s first test run the Mini Jen was put to good use for two long shifts at work – I used the purple clutch with no strap attached to hold my purse, the clear pouch for my medication, lip balm, make up, sanitary towels and sweeteners(AKA the things I carry everywhere) and the rest of the bag had plenty of room for everything else.

My drink stayed cool in the insulated bottle holder, my phone was easy to find in the phone pouch and my keys on the key holder.

Bottle holder with pouches in pockets either side

Every part of the bag has been well thought out – the pockets that hold the clutch and clear bags have enough room to hold them with space when they are full.

I have a padded pouch that holds my DSLR, accessories and one extra lens and it fits perfectly too.

Popped to the shops

When we walk to the shops or go to the park I don’t want to be lagging a big bag, so it was amazing to be able to remove the purple clutch, attach the smaller shoulder strap and just take the essentials.  The clutch looks small but has plenty of room for a relatively large purse, a pair of sunglasses, tissues and I even managed to squeeze a snack in for the boy.

Days out

I love a rucksack but not all the time – on days out I tend to use my trusty old faithful rucksack as it has plenty of room for a picnic, my camera and anything else we need.  I also don’t like taking a ‘nice’ bag in case it gets ruined.

It’s so simple to swap over – I took the clutch and clear bag out and put them into my rucksack, with no need to transfer individual items it was really quick and easy.

I do however really like the Sydney backpack and I will be ordering it on payday….

Overall

My overall thoughts?  I’m absolutely blown away with the Mini Jen – it’s a bag I can use every day as well as for travelling, it’s perfect for busy mums and anyone who needs a totally versatile bag.

The bag is strong, hard wearing and looks as though it will last for a long time.  I would thoroughly recommend the Mini Jen to anyone – it’s fabulous!

The Mini Jen comes in various colours including Navy, Mustard, Berry and Chestnut and is £52.00 and can be purchased from Mia Tui, you can find the website by clicking here.
